Nature or Nurture?

Who said that blood makes the only family?
Yes, they do help with the basic obligations.
But your real identity is moulded with the help of experience and age.
Also, with the help of the environment.
We always questioned the nature and nurture theory.
Yes, we have basic traits which stay constant.
But don't they get refined or reinforced in a positive and negative manner by the help of the environment?
What happens when your own family is the basic source of negative emotions?
What if they force you to do something which hampers your growth?
What if your mental peace is lost due to the various frictions within the family?
What happens when your curiosity of the world dies when your basic right to questioning the traditional norms dies?
To force you to forget something because the society will question your integrity of being a woman?
What if they force you to become that person whom you can't recognise and be with you as you drift off to sleep?
How can our own unique sense of being be nurtured if we are not even given the opportunity to blossom?

Family is not always the security net.
Yes, they are ones who got us here, took our numerous childhood pictures and gave us our first favourite toy.
But the ones whom you come across and make contribution to the real growth of you are the ones who are important.
To all the ones who were there, are there and will be there.

Thank-you for making my existence worthwhile.
:)
